The modern legends say that the engineers`brigades as simple workers have worked on the construction of the VAZ; that the dog Verny has lived in this city.
Up to the middle of the second half of the XVIII century the Zhigulevskie mountains were called the Dev'ji mountains. The sense of such a name for Russian people is anyhow clear. At present there are legends about brave Manchiha, about the group of bogatyrok - sisters to whom "good fellows" and "wander narator" have come to force. The grey-haired age of this legend is reflected on the Italian map of 1459 on which the area of the Dev'ih mountains is named Amazonia, which means the place of military-aimed women. The origin of the legend has got the real historical basis. In the long past the tribes of the matrimonial Savromats travelled along
the Volga. The tribes'women could use the weapon as well as the men. Probably this historical event was retold in the legends about the bogatyrki - maidens and it was a reason to call the middle Volga mountains the Dev`ji ones. The memory about this is kept in the Dev`ja Gora (mountain).
